The Gaylord is a short 15–20-minute trip from the Denver Airport (DEN).  Taxi or rideshare is recommended. The hotel does not offer a shuttle to the Airport but does have a shuttle service to the Pena light rail station which provides service to the Airport as well as into downtown Denver.  The availability of the shuttle service should be confirmed with the Hotel.

Sunday (5/26) after 6:00pm is recommended.  A list of local restaurants will be provided on this website soon. The Gaylord also has several restaurants on-site.  Check their website for availability.

Denver is the Mile High City.  A list of precautions that attendees can employ are:

  • Drink Water: Before your trip to Denver, and while you are here, drinking plenty of water is the best way to help your body adjust easily to the higher altitude. The low humidity in Colorado keeps the air dry, like the desert, so you need about twice as much water here as you would drink at home closer to sea level. Dehydration is a contributor to altitude sickness, in addition to the obviously reduced blood oxygen saturation levels.
  • Monitor Your Alcohol Intake: In Denver’s rarified air, golf balls go ten percent farther… and so do cocktails, at least until you’ve acclimatized to the altitude and dry climate. Recent studies have shown that until you are fully acclimatized, your body can’t process alcohol as well, so go easy on the libations. Alcohol can also exasperate dehydration.
  • Eat Foods High in Potassium: Foods such as broccoli, bananas, avocado, cantaloupe, celery, greens, bran, chocolate, granola, dates, dried fruit, potatoes and tomatoes will help you replenish electrolytes by balancing salt intake.
  • Watch Your Physical Activity: The effects of exercise are more intense here. If you normally run 10 miles a day at home, you might try 6 miles in Denver until you build up red blood cells. Should you start to feel lightheaded, dizzy or nauseous and feel you need assistance during any NAGM events, please alert an AYSO staff member or hotel staff.

As noted above, the Hotel is a short distance from Denver International Airport, so rental is not essential.  In addition, the Hotel charges an on-site parking fee.  A light rail line is nearby providing transportation into downtown Denver and the Airport. The hotel has a transportation center where Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) can easily pick you up and drop you off.

The Hotel has limited availability following the NAGM.  Attendees should contact the hotel directly.

The Gaylord Rockies is a large property on several levels, and a large hotel/conference/convention facility.  It is a long walk from the Hotel towers to the Third Floor Conference Level where the NAGM meetings and meals will take place.  Attendees with mobility challenges should immediately contact pattymallan@ayso.org.  For more information on the hotel layout, visit the hotel website or you can download the Gaylord app to your mobile device.

Attendees or guests wanting to participate in supporting the events should contact Kris Graff, rkgraff@gmail.com by April 15, 2024.

The NAGM will take place in the Convention Center attached to the Gaylord Rockies Hotel. Please take the corridor to the Convention Center. When you get to the escalators make a left and go up the escalators. Take another left when you get off the escalators and follow the AYSO signs to the meeting space.
